THE ATOMIC BOMB IS DROP ON HIROSHIMA
On August 6, 1945, the United States dropped an atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Hiroshima, killing over 70,000 people when it exploded.
Late in the evening of August 8, 1945, in accordance with the Yalta Agreement, but in violation of the Japanese-Soviet Pact, the USSR declared war on Japan and invaded the puppet state of Manchukuo.
On August 9, 1945, the United States dropped a second atomic bomb on the Japanese city of Nagasaki.
This traumatic series of events led Emperor Hirohito to intervene and order the Supreme Council for the Direction of War to accept the Allied conditions set at the Potsdam Conference to end the war. On August 15, after several days of backroom negotiations and a foiled coup, Emperor Hirohito recorded a speech and had it broadcast throughout the Empire. In this speech, called the "Gyokuon-hōsō", he announced Japan's surrender to the Allies. (source Wikipedia)
