General de Gaulle discovers the original drawing of the "Marianne de Gandon" for the Liberation of Paris!
The order for the Marianne was placed during the liberation of Paris (August 1944), while FFI officers positioned in Gandon's workshop were firing on the Germans. The original drawing, made using the artist's wife Jacqueline Gandon as a model, would be ready for the arrival of General de Gaulle in Paris on 25 August 1944.
The first edition of the "Marianne de Gandon" was printed in 1945.
