Collecting aerophilatelic envelopes that traveled on board the supersonic Concorde is in itself a fascinating and rare subject. Indeed, the only civil supersonic aircraft in the world had only been operated from 1976 to 2003 on commercial flights. Now over, the “Concorde aeronautical epic” has entered into History.
To have the aerophilatelic envelopes carried on board, it was necessary to entrust them to the good care of a passenger or a crew member who, for a question of weight, could only transport a very small quantity. These letters were then authenticated by the mention “Carried on board” and/or by a “flight certificate”.
The most sought-after “1st Concorde Flights” envelopes are the very rare copies that were signed by the Captain or by a crew member (authentic signatures). They are offered confidentially to specialized aerophilatelists.
