Centenary of Hergé (1907-2007) - Tintin and Snowy's Father
Hergé, pseudonym of Georges Remi, was born in Brussels on May 22, 1907. Although he created other comic strip characters, Hergé became famous above all as the spiritual father of Tintin, a young reporter whose adventures are told in 24 albums.
On May 12, 2007, the French Post issued a series of 6 postage stamps bearing the effigy of the main characters of the adventures of Tintin: "Tintin and Milou", "Captain Haddock", Tchang", "La Castafiore", "Tournesol " and "the Dupondts".
The Belgian Post wanted the centenary of Hergé's birth not to go unnoticed. As a tribute to this great artist, it has decided to issue a superb sheet of 25 special stamps, illustrated with 24 covers of the Tintin albums, each presented in a different language with, in the centre, a portrait of the author. "Presale" May 19, 2007, "First Day of Issue" May 22, 2007.
